Week 4: Discussion#4
1. What triggered the behavior of Eric?
Eric's lack of trust, excessive jealousy, and insecurities
triggers him in his conflicts with Shirley and her peers. He may think that all
of Shirley's male associates have ulterior motives, leading him to always
resort to physical violence. He always wants to make sure that Shirley is never
with them. Although the information shown in the scenarios within the video are
insufficient. The reason for Eric's lack of trust that always triggers him is
still unknown.
2. "Lumiit yung mundo ko... parang unti-unting
sumikip... nakulong ako sa kaming 2 lang..." What does this mean? Why
did the girl say this?
Shirley's quote was the result of an abusive and a
controlling partner. The quote means that her ability to socially interact with
other people is now limited to just the both of them due to his partner's
toxicity. She was pent up with her partner's excessive jealousy and lack of
trust. She was sick of her partner always trying to shrug off any male
companions or peers that she has. Finally, she was tired from the promises that
her partner continues to make but always fails to keep.
3. Give your own reaction/reflection about the video.
Include your learnings/realizations.
Do not be toxic. We are all aware that no one is perfect and everybody is flawed in some way. Although this does not mean that we should just give up on trying to be better and fixing this flaws. Sometimes, we enter relationships wherein we are still not the better versions of ourselves, such as having a lack of trust. Although, make sure to try to solve this problem as you progress into the relationship. That is what a relationship is for, to inspire someone to become a better version of themselves. You must never restrict someone else from their freedom, specially if it does not even bring any harm. Also, when it comes to promises, it is better to not even make one at all rather breaking or failing to keep it.
