Week 8: Reflection#1 (Real People, Real Stories: Kevin and Apple)

What is/are the lesson/s you have learned in the lives if Apple and Kevin? By knowing their lives and the things they have been through, were it able to impact your life? Kevin and Apple's testimonies about what they have been through are truly inspiring. They have suffered from depression, misery, and even thought of ending their own lives. Amidst all this, they still did not give in, rather, they found a solution to end their misery  –  through God. All had changed as they have accepted God into their lives. All of their pain have been unexplainably replaced by joy and peace. If ever that situation were to happen to me, I have learned that I would also be able to pull through and manage to find a way to find happiness as they did. As soon as I accept that I need help, the sooner the help will come to change my current situation. Whether it may be God or another person, I am hoping that there would also be someone to help me in my darkest times where I just could not go through on

Week 8: Discussion#6

Q1 :  What is atheism? Based on the testimony of Kevin, a former atheist, why is atheism a destructive thing? Generally, atheism is the lack of belief in gods and deities. In a narrower sense, it is the rejection of the belief of the existence of any deities. In another narrower sense, it is the disbelief of gods or deities. Based from Kevin, atheism made him feel free, powerful, and in control. With this, atheism may have caused him to pursue pleasure, power, and possession in his attempt to fill his emptiness but, he have always kept wanting for more and was never satisfied. This then led to depression slowly creeping in that made him became miserable. He then resolved to commit suicide when he reached 40 if he did not find the answer because he did not want to grow old and miserable. Although, atheism is not always a destructive thing. His situation was affected by a lot of factors such as his environment and lifestyle.  Q2 : Apple had a wonderful work/business and career. Then, she

Week 7: Discussion#5

What important take away did I learn in this   lesson? Even though we decide or develop our own identities, there are other people that affects this journey to personal development. Your family has largest impact on what kind of person you will turn out in the future. For example, growing up with strict parents may lead you to be rebellious while growing up with parents who are too loose or spoils you may lead you to have a lack of discipline. Your friends also have an impact on your personal development specially on adolescence. During this period, true friends help on giving you a sense of belongingness outside of your homes. They also have an impact on your social connection and inspires your intellectual capacity and aspirations. Good community leaders and teachers serve as a role model and set a good examples on what to be when you grow up.

CHRISTIAN G. BERANA          ORAL COMMUNICATION  11 – AURIGA                                       SIR MARVIN   “VOYAGE”                 This digital art represents my current state, or maybe even others’, during this pandemic. The character in it is drawn using basic shapes because it represents how simple I am. This art is almost monochromatic because it represents how I mostly perceive life and its challenges – simple. In this chaotic period, we still try to keep pursuing our goals one after another. We may not completely know what’s more to come but all we know is we won’t stop sailing this journey we call life.
